Vision Festival 30
Presented by Arts for Art. The city’s premier annual showcase of free jazz and related forms returns this week for its 30th installment, with a characteristically packed lineup. Every night has something special in store, but this bill looks particularly choice, featuring projects headed by the 102-year-old Sun Ra Arkestra torchbearer Marshall Allen; Warren “Trae” Crudup, the fiery drummer often heard in Blacks Myths’ and other cutting-edge local ensembles; and DoYeon Kim, the genre-blurring player of the gayageum (a Korean zither); as well as the venerable duo of the bassist William Parker and the drummer Hamid Drake, and an appearance from the poet Sol Cabrini.
