The bassist Linda May Han Oh and the saxophonist Melissa Aldana, both among the most respected and in-demand instrumentalists of the millennial generation, have made their names playing original music. But their new duo album, Beneath Lifted Skies, focuses largely on swinging, conversational renditions of bebop and postbop classics by Charlie Parker, Bud Powell, Wayne Shorter, John Coltrane, Charles Mingus and others. The program is an unexpected treat from this pair, with some spellbinding free improvisations mixed in, and ought to make for a compelling gig here, part of Oh’s four-night run at the Stone.
