Miguel Zenón and Micah Thomas
Just as new jazz clubs have been sprouting up all over the city, new jazz series are also taking root in alternative spaces, such as Cocina Consuelo, an acclaimed Mexican restaurant in the Hamilton Heights section of Harlem. Booked by the saxophonist Sergio Tabanico, the August lineup is top-notch, including this week’s promising duet between the saxophonist Miguel Zenón and the pianist Micah Thomas. (The vibraphonist Joel Ross and a duo of the guitarist Emmanuel Michael and the saxophonist Alfredo Colon appear, respectively, on the next two Fridays.)
