Two of the world's most creative trombonists, New Orleans' own Delfeayo Marsalis and the San Francisco Bay Area's Steve Turré have forged a years-long collaborative friendship that includes an annual tradition of a 2-night concert series in New Orleans each summer. And for this edition, they are joined by The Groovemaster, The Baron of The Boom Boom, powerhouse legend on the drums, Herlin Riley, for what is sure to be one heck of an evening.

‍Steve Turré is one of the world's most celebrated jazz innovators, renowned as both a master trombonist and the pioneering virtuoso of the seashell. A perennial winner of the DownBeat,JazzTimes, and Jazziz Critics' and Readers' Polls, Turré has performed with legends including Ray Charles, Art Blakey, Dizzy Gillespie, McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock, Tito Puente, Max Roach, and Rahsaan Roland Kirk, who introduced him to the musical possibilities of the seashell. A longtime member of the Saturday Night Live Band since 1984, Turré blends jazz, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, and blues traditions into a sound that is both deeply rooted and boldly original.

Surely, neither Delfeayo Marsalis nor Herlin Riley need a New Orleans introduction, but just in case:

GRAMMY Award-winning Delfeayo Marsalis is one of the top trombonists, composers, and producers in jazz today. Known for his “technical excellence, inventive mind and frequent touches of humor…” (Leonard Feather, Los Angeles Times), he is “…one of the best, most imaginative and musical of the trombonists of his generation.” (Philip Elwood, San Francisco Examiner). In 2011, Delfeayo and the Marsalis family (father Ellis and brothers Branford, Wynton, and Jason) earned the nation’s highest jazz honor – a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Jazz Masters Award, thus dubbing them "America's First Family of Jazz." With more than a dozen record releases under his own name and as leader of the Uptown Jazz Orchestra since his debut in 1992, Delfeayo has since proven himself an exceptional trombonist who has toured internationally with his own groups, as well as those led by handfuls of other renowned bandleaders.

Known affectionately as "The Groove Master" or "The Baron of the Boom Boom" by those that play with him and know him well, Herlin Riley is a world-renowned drummer, composer, and educator celebrated for blending traditional New Orleans rhythms with modern jazz. Born and raised in New Orleans, Riley began playing drums at age three and later studied music at Southern University before becoming a sought-after collaborator and often-times touring band member with legends like Ahmad Jamal, George Benson, Dr. John and Harry Connick Jr. He gained international acclaim through his longtime work with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, while also leading his own acclaimed projects, including the album "New Direction." A passionate mentor and educator, Riley continues to share the rich traditions of New Orleans jazz with audiences and young musicians around the world, particularly since relocating back home to New Orleans from a nearly 20-year residency in NYC after Hurricane Katrina.
