Michael Pellera is one of New Orleans’ most respected modern jazz pianists, composers, arrangers, and educators. A graduate of Berklee College of Music and longtime Jazz Dept. Chair at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts high school (NOCCA), Pellera has helped shape generations of musicians while building an acclaimed career as a performer and bandleader.

His original recordings feature New Orleans jazz luminaries including John Vidacovich, Bill Summers, Tony Dagradi, and Steve Masakowski, while his music blends modern jazz harmony, classic American songbook influences, and the rich rhythms of New Orleans. A sought-after collaborator, Pellera has performed with artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Branford Marsalis, Bobby McFerrin, Buddy Rich, and Harry Connick Jr., earning a reputation as one of the city’s premier jazz pianists.
