Charmaine Neville, daughter of legendary saxophonist Charles Neville of The Neville Brothers, carries the torch of a rich New Orleans musical legacy. The Uptown Jazz Orchestra is a powerhouse New Orleans big band founded by acclaimed trombonist and NEA Jazz Master, Delfeayo Marsalis. Blending traditional swing with contemporary energy, the orchestra showcases a deep commitment to preserving and evolving the city’s rich jazz heritage. Known for its tight arrangements, soulful improvisation, and dynamic live performances, the ensemble features some of the finest musicians in New Orleans and often collaborates with special guests across generations. It's truly a marvel to experience this 12-15 piece big band take over the intimate Snug stage.
Tonight, the band is led by longtime bassist for the late, great Ellis Marsalis, Jason Stewart.
