The Jazz Generations Initiative unites artists and listeners with intergenerational performance opportunities and interdisciplinary jazz studies scholarship. The JGI will grow diverse audiences in New York and New Orleans, expand archival preservation of jazz legacies and spark new possibilities in improvised music and beyond.

Michael Ode

The Nigerian-American drummer and bandleader Michael Shekwoaga Ode has played alongside many masters of the music. He brings a powerful personal style to the Soundoff Sessions for a set at 9pm, followed by an open jam at 10:30.

Ben Sherman

The young NYC-based tenor saxophonist Ben Sherman isn't yet 20 years old, but he's already lighting up stages around his hometown. He's torn it up twice at the Soundoff Sessions as a member of others' bands. Now he steps up as a leader. Set at 9pm, open jam at 10:30.

Brandon Woody

Baltimore-based trumpeter Brandon Woody has taken the jazz world by storm in the past two years, releasing an acclaimed debut LP on Blue Note Records and establishing his band UPENDO as one of the prime live acts around. They play the Soundoff Sessions at 9pm, with an open jam at 10:30.
