The Jazz Generations Initiative unites artists and listeners with intergenerational performance opportunities and interdisciplinary jazz studies scholarship. The JGI will grow diverse audiences in New York and New Orleans, expand archival preservation of jazz legacies and spark new possibilities in improvised music and beyond.

The Jazz Generations Initiative presents the Trap Music Orchestra to kick off THE SOUNDOFF SESSIONS, a new series of performances and open jams every other Thursday at Cafe Erzulie, hosted by the JGI. Synchronizing the aural lineage of Black music around the centerpiece of Trap Music, the group is equal parts time capsule, mosaic, lecture and party.
Tyrone Allen II performs as part of THE SOUNDOFF SESSIONS, presented every other Thursday at Erzulie by the Jazz Generations Initiative. Allen is an exceptional bass player who has played with some of the top contemporaries of his time, including Nicole Glover, Sullivan Fortner, Miki Yamanaka, Kazemde George and myriad others.
